Job Title: Void Surveyor (Building Surveyor – Task & Finishing Team)
Location: SE17 Estate (Site-Based with Hybrid Working)
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract
Pay Rate: £24 PAYE / £30 per hour Umbrella LTD
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role: A Central London Council is seeking an experienced Void Surveyor to support the delivery of a large-scale voids programme on an estate in SE17. The role will focus on inspecting, specifying, and preparing void works to ensure they are accurately coded using NatFed and completed in the most cost-effective and compliant manner.
This is a key role within the Task and Finishing Team (TFT), and the successful candidate will work alongside internal stakeholders, contractors, and consultants to ensure voids are swiftly turned around to re-let standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out inspections of void properties across a concentrated estate in SE17
- Specify repair and refurbishment works using National Housing Federation (NatFed) codes
- Ensure voids are costed and managed in the most efficient way, achieving value for money
- Write clear technical specifications and manage contractor delivery on-site
- Provide specialist surveying advice to the Task and Finishing Team
- Evaluate project quality and ensure delivery is in line with council standards and resident expectations
- Support contract management, monitor variations, and oversee contractor performance
- Compile technical reports and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
- Liaise with housing, legal, financial, and planning teams as required
- Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS/FRICS) or equivalent qualification (Desirable)
- Proven experience in void surveying, refurbishment, and housing maintenance
- Excellent knowledge of contract management, building regulations, and leaseholder legislation
- Ability to accurately specify and cost works using NatFed coding systems
- Strong organisational and workload management skills
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Confident working both on-site and remotely, with the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently
