Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people at critical turning points in their lives?

We are recruiting for Youth Diversion Workers to join a frontline, in-person team based within Walworth and Brixton Police Custody Suites. You will work directly with children at the point of arrest, providing crucial early intervention support to divert them away from further offending.

About the Role:
  • Proactively liaise with custody suites throughout your shift to identify any children brought into custody.

  • Attend the suite promptly to conduct a short screening with the child, exploring their needs and opportunities for positive diversion.

  • With consent from the child and their parent/guardian, you will be allocated to deliver a brief diversion programme (3–5 sessions).

  • Engage with the young person to build rapport, deliver tailored interventions, and signpost to relevant community services and positive activities.

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 10+ children at any given time.

Requirements:
  • Experience of working with children and young people, ideally in youth justice, early intervention or custody-based settings.

  • Strong communication and motivational skills – especially at teachable, high-impact moments.

  • Knowledge of Mosaic and Core+ systems is preferred.

  • Ability to work to a 35-hour shift rota, fully in-person.

  • Must be eligible for and able to pass Police Vetting.

Why This Role? This is a rare opportunity to step into a frontline, change-making position where your work can directly prevent reoffending and help vulnerable young people rebuild their futures.
