Pay: £16.70 per hour PAYE (Ex of Holiday Pay) | £21.14 per hour Ltd via Umbrella 
 
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an Assistant Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) to join a well-established public sector organisation based in Preston. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Mechanical Building Services professional to work on a diverse range of building projects within a multidisciplinary design team.
Working across a varied property portfolio, you will support the design, specification and delivery of Mechanical Building Services projects. You will have the opportunity to manage your own smaller projects while assisting senior engineers on larger and more complex schemes.
The Role
As an Assistant Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of Mechanical Building Services projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to a high technical standard.
Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify Mechanical Building Services, including:
  • Heating systems
  • Hot water systems
  • Legionella mitigation
  • Ventilation
  • Air conditioning
  • Gas installations
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Manage and deliver small Mechanical Building Services projects from design through to completion.
• Support senior engineers and project managers on larger and more complex projects.
• Prepare technical specifications, reports and engineering documentation.
• Work collaboratively with architects, structural engineers and other design disciplines.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
• Ensure all work complies with current legislation, building regulations and industry standards.
• Assist with project planning, budgeting and programme management.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A recognised qualification in Mechanical Building Services Engineering, or be working towards a professional qualification, or possess significant relevant industry experience.
• Membership of a recognised professional institution (such as CIBSE) or working towards membership.
• Experience designing and delivering Mechanical Building Services projects.
• Experience working within a Building Services or multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Knowledge of Mechanical Building Services, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), hot water, gas, legionella control and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• A sound understanding of current building regulations, legislation and engineering standards.
• Experience managing or supporting the delivery of small engineering projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work proactively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Previous experience within the public sector.
• Experience managing external consultants.
• Experience working across a range of sectors and client groups.
