About the Role
Enfield Council is seeking a motivated and compassionate Assistant Occupational Therapist to join the Prevention & Assessment Reablement Team.
This is a reablement-focused role supporting adults to regain independence following illness, injury, hospital discharge, or changes in circumstances. You will work within a strengths-based, person-centred approach that promotes independence, confidence, and reduced reliance on long-term care.
You will contribute to occupational therapy assessments, support reablement planning, and help ensure individuals can safely and effectively use equipment and adaptations in their own homes.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred reablement interventions focused on independence and daily living (ADLs)
- Undertake functional assessments including mobility, transfers, and self-care tasks
- Monitor and review progress, contributing to outcome-based reablement reviews
- Support Care Act assessments where required
- Recommend and support safe use of equipment such as grab rails and perching stools
- Ensure service users are confident and safe using provided equipment and adaptations
- Apply professional judgement when assessing needs, eligibility, and risk
- Manage workload effectively within deadlines and budget constraints
- Maintain accurate records in line with data protection and council policies
- Contribute to service improvement, team meetings, and continuous development
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in health or social care settings supporting adults with diverse needs
- Knowledgeable in reablement and rehabilitation approaches
- Skilled in person-centred and strengths-based practice
- Confident completing assessments and support plans
- Comfortable using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
- Able to communicate clearly in spoken and written English
- Able to manage complex or challenging situations with professionalism
- Flexible and willing to work across the borough
- Experience working with adults in health or social care
- Understanding of disability and its impact on daily living
- Ability to complete assessments and support planning
- Level 3 Trusted Assessor (or willingness to work towards this)
- Knowledge of reablement and rehabilitation principles
- Strong IT skills (MS Office and case recording systems)
- Ability to travel independently across the borough (full driving licence required)
- Experience in an Occupational Therapy setting
- Experience using social care recording systems
- Familiarity with Care Act (2014) assessments and processes
