About the Role
The London Borough of Hackney is seeking a proactive and organised Brokerage Assistant to join the Commissioning Team within Children, Adults & Community Health.
Reporting to the Senior Brokerage Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Brokerage function—helping to source, arrange and manage care packages, residential placements, and supported living services. This is a fast-paced role requiring strong coordination skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.

Reporting to the Senior Brokerage Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Brokerage function—helping to source, arrange and manage care packages, residential placements, and supported living services. This is a fast-paced role requiring strong coordination skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update databases relating to care placements, packages, and costs
- Liaise with social workers, care coordinators, providers, finance teams, and other stakeholders
- Support Brokerage Officers in sourcing and arranging care placements
- Maintain care home vacancy databases
- Monitor provider compliance and escalate issues where necessary
- Ensure accurate record-keeping across systems such as Mosaic and CM2000
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and enquiries as part of the team’s duty system
- Support service users and carers in service delivery processes
- Contribute to policy and procedure development
- Experience working in a health or social care setting
- Knowledge of residential or supported living placements
- Strong administrative and IT skills (databases, spreadsheets, case management systems)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines under pressure
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and building effective relationships
- Understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and relevant legislation
- Familiarity with commissioning and procurement processes
- Knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation and Department of Health guidance
- Experience using financial or procurement systems
- Experience handling complaints and monitoring service performance
