Building Control Surveyor – Contract Position (2 Weeks) – Wirral

Are you a skilled Building Control Surveyor looking for a temporary contract to showcase your expertise? We are currently seeking a dedicated Building Control Surveyor for a short-term assignment based in Birkenhead, Merseyside. This is an excellent opportunity to work with Wirral Borough Council, supporting vital building safety and compliance services. The contract duration is 2 weeks, with a pay rate of £45.00 per hour on PAYE or £58.24 per hour if on limited/upon-umbrella.

About the Role: Building Control Surveyor

As a Building Control Surveyor, you will assist in delivering a customer-focused building regulation service that ensures the health, safety, and welfare of the public. This role involves a variety of responsibilities including site inspections, compliance checks, and enforcement actions, contributing directly to the safety and quality of the built environment.

Candidate Responsibilities: Building Control Surveyor

• Conduct statutory and site inspections related to building regulations and legislation
• Check applications for compliance with Building Regulations and relevant laws
• Participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota for dangerous structures
• Assess structural calculations and submitted plans
• Liaise with builders, owners, and external agencies to ensure compliance
• Support enforcement procedures, including report preparation and court appearances if necessary
• Promote the service and develop new business opportunities
• Maintain accurate records in line with quality management systems
• Deliver high levels of service to meet performance targets
• Ensure all activities comply with health and safety policies and procedures

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience as a Building Control Surveyor or similar role
• Sound knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents, and related legislation
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and specialist back-office systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and on-site at various locations
• Willingness to participate in emergency call-outs
