Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Surveying Manager to join a local authority in East Anglia. The successful candidate will lead a team of Chartered and technical professionals, delivering a high-quality, customer-focused building surveying service across housing assets.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Building Surveyors and Technical Officers, overseeing allocation, programming, and quality assurance of all works.
- Lead on complex capital and maintenance projects, ensuring delivery within time, cost, and quality parameters.
- Oversee compliance with statutory regulations including Health & Safety, CDM, and Building Regulations.
- Develop and implement service improvement initiatives and policy frameworks to drive best practice.
- Manage major procurement projects, prepare specifications, and oversee tendering processes.
- Monitor significant budgets and report to senior management on performance, risk, and programme delivery.
- Act as professional lead in resolving disputes and customer complaints, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related field.
- Chartered Membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB) or working towards.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex construction projects.
- Strong working knowledge of construction legislation, H&S, and procurement processes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Local authority or social housing experience desirable.
