About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Business Manager to support a Director within a high-profile public sector environment. This role sits within a Private Office function and is focused on ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Director’s office.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating priorities, managing communications, and maintaining strong oversight of the Director’s commitments and programme activity. While not a strategic leadership role, the position requires confidence in articulating programme objectives and ensuring alignment across stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive inbox and diary management for the Director
- Coordinate and prioritise meetings, briefings, and engagements
- Maintain a clear overview of the Director’s schedule, commitments, and key deliverables
- Support effective stakeholder engagement across the organisation
- Work closely with senior stakeholders, both upwards and across the organisation
- Ensure the Director is appropriately briefed and prepared for all engagements
- Assist in tracking programme activity and communicating progress
- Challenge appropriately and provide constructive input where needed
Essential skills and experience:
- Proven experience working within a Private Office environment
- Experience supporting senior leadership (Director level or equivalent)
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities
- High level of discretion and experience handling sensitive information
- Confident communicator with the ability to challenge when required
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
