Environmental Caretaker – South London
Location: Bromley, South London, Croydon & surrounding areas
Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
Pay: £14.80 per hour PAYE ex Holiday | £18.60 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Temporary

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an Environmental Caretaker to join an Estate Services Team covering South London, working out of the Bromley area, Croydon and the surrounding areas.

This is a varied, hands-on role primarily focused on deep cleaning operations, estate services and occasional bulk collections. You will work as part of a team while also being expected to use your own initiative, manage your workload effectively and provide a high standard of service to residents and members of the public.

The Role
As an Environmental Caretaker, you will be responsible for:

• Carrying out deep cleaning operations across residential estates and communal areas.
• Undertaking occasional bulk waste collections and assisting with the removal of bulky items.
• Driving a 3.5-tonne bulk truck or panel van and trailer when required.
• Sharing driving responsibilities with other members of the team.
• Following scheduled daily routes and attending various sites across South London and Croydon.
• Using a range of tools and equipment to complete cleaning and environmental services tasks.
• Monitoring estate activity and identifying issues that require attention.
• Maintaining accurate records of completed works and activities.
• Following daily work schedules and organising tasks efficiently.
• Working safely and ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed.
• Liaising with residents, members of the public, colleagues and community representatives in a professional and courteous manner.
• Supporting the wider Estate Services Team with general environmental and caretaking duties as required.

About You
The successful Environmental Caretaker will ideally have:

• Previous experience in caretaking, environmental services, cleaning, estate services, waste collection or a similar role.
• A practical, hands-on approach to work.
• The ability and willingness to drive a 3.5-tonne vehicle and/or panel van with trailer where required.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to follow schedules and daily routes.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach to completing tasks.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to deal professionally with members of the public, residents and community representatives.
• An understanding of safe working practices.
• A flexible attitude and willingness to undertake a varied range of duties.
• A positive ‘can do’ attitude and commitment to delivering a high standard of service.
