Childcare Lawyer

Service Care Legal are recruiting for an experienced Childcare Lawyer to join a well-regarded Local Authority legal team in Essex on an initial 3-month locum contract. This role offers rewarding work within a supportive environment, working on matters that directly impact vulnerable children and families.
 
ROLE:                  Childcare Lawyer
LOCATION:         Essex
RATE:                   £56.10ph umbrella / £49.87ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £44.50ph PAYE exc. holiday pay        
CONTRACT:        Initial 3 month contract with possibility of extension, 35 hours per week


This is a hybrid position requiring attendance in the office 2 days per week, with the remainder worked remotely.
 
The Role
 

• Manage a caseload of childcare and safeguarding matters, including public law proceedings and care-related work
• Provide high-quality legal advice and support to internal stakeholders and client departments
• Attend hearings, case conferences, and support the wider legal team on complex safeguarding matters

 
Person Specification
 

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with proven childcare law experience
• Strong background handling children’s safeguarding matters within a busy caseload environment
• Previous Local Government experience is desirable, with the ability to work independently and flexibly
