We are currently recruiting for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Integrated Front Door – Referral and Assessment Service in Bolton. This is an office-based role supporting children, families, and partner agencies by providing an effective front-door duty service.
Working within the Department of People, you will play a key role in screening referrals, gathering information, and making informed decisions regarding safeguarding concerns and statutory support for children and families.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide a professional social work duty service to children, families, and partner agencies within the Integrated Front Door.
• Screen contacts and referrals and determine appropriate next steps.
• Gather and analyse information to determine whether Section 47 Child Protection enquiries or a Children and Families Needs Assessment is required.
• Contribute to the Front Door duty service, providing advice and information to callers and professionals.
• Arrange services and progress referrals requiring further assessment.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies and families to provide guidance and support.
• Provide a duty service to office visitors when required.
• Contribute to the allocation and organisation of work within the team.

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW, CSS, Social Work Degree or equivalent).
• Registered with Social Work England (or applied for registration).
• Strong knowledge of social work law, referral and assessment processes, and child protection procedures.
• Experience completing contacts and referrals within children’s services.
• Ability to analyse information and make sound safeguarding decisions.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential car user post).
• Ability to work office-based in Bolton.

Compliance Requirements

• 5 years referencing required with employment gaps explained.
• Enhanced DBS with barred list check.
• Relevant qualifications must be verified in line with the job description.
• DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions must be completed prior to submission.

Working Arrangements

• 37 hours per week
• Office-based role in Bolton
• Free on-site parking available.
