Director Of Legal And Governance

Service Care Solutions is working with a pivotal public sector organisation, currently being established within the Hampshire and Solent region, which is seeking an experienced Director of Legal and Governance. This role will provide strategic legal leadership during a key transitional period.
 
Role: Director of Legal and Governance  
Location: Hampshire – hybrid
Umbrella Rate: £950per day
PAYE Inc. Rate: £833per day
Contract Length: 3-6 months – 22 hours per week
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the legal function, ensuring effective delivery of high-quality legal advice.
• Act as Monitoring Officer, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and governance frameworks.
• Provide strategic legal guidance on complex, high-profile matters.
• Build strong relationships with elected members, senior stakeholders, and external partners.

Key Requirements:

• Extensive post-qualification experience as a senior legal professional (Solicitor or Barrister) within local government or a comparable environment; ideally as a Legal Director/Monitoring officer.
• Proven track record managing complex legal matters, including litigation and statutory responsibilities.
• Experience working closely with elected members and senior stakeholders.
