We is seeking a dedicated EHCO (Education, Health and Care Coordinator) on a 3 month rolling contract, with potential for extension. About the Role: EHCO (Education, Health and Care Coordinator)
The EHCO role is vital in coordinating the statutory Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process for children and young people aged 0–25. You will ensure our client meets its legal duties under the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice, delivering timely, lawful, and person-centred casework. The EHCO will work collaboratively with families, education settings, and multi-agency professionals to facilitate positive outcomes.
Candidate Responsibilities: EHCO (Education, Health and Care Coordinator)
As an EHCO, your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating the EHCP process for children and young people aged 0–25
- Managing a caseload of 250+ cases with efficiency and accuracy
- Preparing and reviewing EHCP documentation that is lawful, clear, and outcome-focused
- Conducting 20-week assessments and annual reviews in line with statutory deadlines
- Attending tribunal proceedings and preparing necessary packs
- Utilizing professional judgment and escalating complex or high-risk cases promptly
- Maintaining up-to-date, accurate records within our client systems
- Building constructive partnerships with families, schools, and health pioneers
- Working within our client governance and escalation procedures
Essential Skills & Experience for the EHCO Role
- Minimum 12 months’ experience working in SEND within a Local Authority environment
- Extensive knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory processes (experience with caseloads of 250+ is preferred)
- Proven experience with tribunals, assessment work, and annual reviews
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage complex cases sensitively
- Ability to prioritize and manage workloads effectively
