About the Role:
The Evidence Management Officer is responsible for ensuring all evidential property coming into police possession is processed, stored, secured and disposed of in accordance with police policy, legislation and evidential procedures.
The role supports operational policing and criminal investigations by maintaining the integrity, continuity and security of evidence while delivering a high standard of service to internal and external stakeholders.
This is a physically active, office-based role working primarily within evidence stores and operational storage environments.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the continuity, integrity and security of evidential property held within the Evidence Management Unit (EMU).
- Receive, record, package, store and dispose of evidence in accordance with force procedures and legislation.
- Attend court when required to account for evidential property in support of criminal or civil proceedings.
- Handle sensitive, hazardous, high-risk and high-value property including drugs, firearms and biological materials.
- Provide guidance and support to officers and staff regarding evidence handling, packaging and continuity procedures.
- Assist with evidence retention reviews and resolve evidential storage issues.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure evidence remains in suitable storage conditions.
- Escalate critical risks or evidential concerns appropriately.
Essential skills and experience:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems proactively.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and basic Excel.
- Willingness to learn relevant legislation and police procedures.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
- Full UK driving licence.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
