We’re working in partnership with a well-established Children & Families service in the Manchester area to recruit a Family Contact Worker (Grade 4) to support some of the city’s most vulnerable children and families.
This is a rewarding frontline role, ideal for someone passionate about safeguarding, child development and family-focused practice.
The Role As a Family Contact Worker, you will play a vital role in facilitating, supervising and observing contact between children and their families, ensuring every interaction is safe, supportive and aligned with agreed care plans.

The Role As a Family Contact Worker, you will play a vital role in facilitating, supervising and observing contact between children and their families, ensuring every interaction is safe, supportive and aligned with agreed care plans.
You will:
- Facilitate and supervise family contact sessions, including complex and supervised contact
- Observe and assess interactions, contributing to ongoing child and family assessments
- Provide practical support and guidance to children and parents during contact
- Accurately record contact sessions, observations and outcomes
- Monitor agreed action plans and escalate concerns to the Social Worker where appropriate
- Work confidently within child protection procedures and court-related processes
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusive practice at all times
- Experience working with children and families, particularly in safeguarding contexts
- A sound understanding of child development and child protection principles
- Knowledge of the Assessment Framework and how contact contributes to wider assessments
- Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills
- Confidence managing emotionally complex situations professionally
- Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
