Family Practitioner (Children’s Services) – our client | Contract (Full Time), 2 Weeks

Our client is seeking passionate, resilient and relationship-focused Family Practitioners to join district-based Children’s Services teams in our client. This Family Practitioner contract is full time for an initial period of 2 weeks, with an emphasis on restorative, strengths-based support that helps children remain safely within family networks and communities.

As a Family Practitioner, you will work directly with children, young people, families, carers and partner agencies—delivering practical interventions, improving outcomes and supporting children in Need, Child Protection plans and Children in Care, working alongside Social Workers.

Candidate Responsibilities

  • Work as a Family Practitioner using a restorative practice approach with children, young people and families
  • Support children to remain safely within family networks or return home where appropriate
  • Lead and contribute to Early Help Assessments and intervention plans as a Family Practitioner
  • Deliver targeted support and interventions for children, parents and carers
  • Facilitate family meetings, professional meetings, group work and parenting programmes
  • Undertake direct work including: attachment, behaviour management, criminal exploitation, staying safe, loss and grief, and emotional wellbeing
  • Support mediation, conflict resolution and crisis prevention as a Family Practitioner
  • Contribute to parenting assessments and Life Story Work
  • Maintain accurate case records, reports and documentation
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners and provide flexible support (occasional evenings/weekends)

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in working with children and families (or equivalent)
  • Experience of direct work with vulnerable children, young people and families (statutory or voluntary sector)
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (Essential Car User)
