Key Responsibilities of the Family Service Worker
As a Family Service Worker, you will play a vital role in safeguarding and welfare processes. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Supervising family visits within a court-ordered framework
- Supporting families to maintain positive contact during challenging circumstances
- Completing detailed assessments of family interactions and progress
- Collaborating with legal teams, social workers, and court personnel
- Maintaining accurate case records in line with organisational policies
- Engaging with families in a sensitive, non-judgmental manner to foster trust
- Ensuring compliance with all safeguarding and confidentiality protocols
- Providing guidance and support to families to facilitate positive outcomes
Candidate Requirements
The ideal Family Service Worker will possess:
- Proven experience in child and family support services or social work
- A recognised DBS check (please specify whether enhanced – including barred check for children, adults, or both)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy
- Knowledge of court procedures and safeguarding policies
- Relevant qualifications in social work, children and families services, or equivalency
