Gardener - Temporary Contract (2 Weeks)

Service Care Solutions is seeking an experienced Gardener to join a local authority's Green Spaces & Street Scene team based in Halifax. Key Responsibilities as a Gardener:

• Cutting grass, strimming, and hedge trimming to a high standard
• Routine gardening and horticultural maintenance tasks
• Fine turf care and ornamental horticulture
• Hard and soft landscaping projects
• Tree maintenance and other horticultural duties
• Safe operation, maintenance, and care of horticultural machinery and equipment
• Keeping work areas clean, safe, and tidy
• Completing timesheets, vehicle checks, job sheets, and HAVS records
• Driving council vehicles when required
• Delivering excellent customer service as a representative of the local authority

Candidate Requirements for the Gardener Role:

• Full UK Driving Licence (Category B minimum)
• NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or equivalent
• Lantra Certificates for safe use of pedestrian mower, hedge trimmer, and strimmer/brushcutter
• Proven experience working outdoors in horticultural and grounds maintenance roles
• Knowledge of horticultural machinery, tools, and safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and a good understanding of health & safety practices
• Ability to interpret site plans and manage workloads effectively
• Desirable: knowledge of machinery maintenance and highway safety experience

What’s on Offer?

• Competitive hourly pay rate of £13.26 per hour PAYE, up to £14.00 per hour PAYE (excluding holiday), or £17.14 - £18.11 per hour via Umbrella
• Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm
• Duration: 2-week temporary contract
• Weekly pay
• Work within a respected Local Authority in a varied outdoor environment
• Dedicated consultant support throughout the contract
