About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused individual to join a Handyperson Service team in County Durham.
The service provides practical support to residents, including minor adaptations, home safety checks, advice, and signposting. The aim is to help individuals—particularly those with disabilities, at risk of falls, or in vulnerable situations—maintain their independence, health, and wellbeing within their own homes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Install external handrails, grab rails, and banister rails
- Build and install concrete, flag, brick steps, and step units
- Fit key safes and other minor adaptation equipment
- Carry out home safety improvements
- Work closely with Occupational Therapists and other health/social care professionals
- Provide excellent customer service when working in residents’ homes
This is a physically demanding, hands-on role that often involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions across County Durham.
To succeed in this role, you should:
- Be self-motivated and able to work independently
- Have strong organisational and time management skills
- Possess good knowledge of safe working practices
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
