Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Compliance Officer to join a Local Authority within the West Midlands on an ongoing contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to support the delivery of safe and compliant Waste & Recycling Services across the borough.
The successful candidate will work closely with operational managers, depot teams and frontline crews to ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, carrying out inspections, investigations and operational monitoring while promoting a positive safety culture throughout the service.

The Role As the Health & Safety Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation across Waste & Recycling operations.
- Undertaking depot inspections, operational audits and ride-alongs with collection crews.
- Carrying out accident, incident and near miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Developing and reviewing Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Method Statements.
- Monitoring driver and crew behaviour using vehicle and depot CCTV systems.
- Delivering toolbox talks and identifying staff training requirements.
- Producing compliance reports and recommendations for operational managers.
- Working alongside Fleet, Supervisors and Contractors to ensure safe working practices across the service.
- Previous experience within a Health & Safety role in an operational or high-risk environment.
- Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation including risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence frontline operational staff.
- The ability to work independently across multiple operational sites.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Experience working within Waste Services, Local Government or Environmental Services.
- Experience using CCTV systems for compliance monitoring or investigations.
