Interim Health & Safety Manager (NHS)
Location: Kent, Surrey & Sussex
Contract: 3 Months (with potential to extend)
Rate: from £31.00 per hour (ltd) / £27.31 (paye inc) (negotiable depending on experience)
Working Pattern: Hybrid working available (to be discussed at interview)
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Health & Safety Manager to provide immediate operational and strategic leadership across the West Region within a complex NHS environment.
This is a hands-on role, responsible for ensuring statutory compliance, leading incident management processes, and maintaining strong governance across multiple sites and services.
You will act as the Trust’s competent person for Health & Safety, working closely with senior leaders, managers, and frontline teams to drive safety standards and culture.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Health & Safety compliance across multiple sites and services
- Lead incident reporting, investigation, and organisational learning (including RIDDOR)
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and manage risk registers
- Provide data analysis, reporting, and assurance to senior stakeholders
- Review policies and liaise with regulatory bodies
- Support and embed a positive and proactive safety culture
- NEBOSH (or equivalent) with a strong professional Health & Safety background
- CMIOSH (or working towards Chartered status)
- Proven experience within the NHS or a complex healthcare setting
- In-depth knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
- Confidence engaging with senior leaders and external regulators
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver at pace
- Immediate availability is required
- Must be able to travel independently (own vehicle essential)
- AFC-aligned travel and subsistence paid
- This is an agency-supplied interim role (not a direct Trust employment)
