We are seeking Helpline Advisor x6 in London to provide vital advice, information, and emotional support through various channels. About the Role – Helpline Advisor x6
As a Helpline Advisor x6, you will deliver confidential, empathetic, and professional support to callers via telephone, live chat, social media, and email. Your role is pivotal in guiding individuals towards recovery and signposting them to appropriate external and internal support services. You will work as part of the Remote Services team, which is committed to offering accessible, non-judgmental support across multiple digital platforms.
Your responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, delivering brief interventions, and responding to callers in crisis with care and sensitivity. You will also assist in moderating forums and chatrooms, providing peer support and creating a safe environment for service users. Working within a fast-paced environment, you must adhere to safeguarding, GDPR, and confidentiality policies while maintaining high standards of practice.
Candidate Responsibilities
- Deliver non-judgmental, confidential support to individuals affected by gambling harm across multiple channels (telephone, live chat, Facebook, WhatsApp, forums, SMS, and email)
- Conduct risk assessments and escalate safeguarding concerns as necessary
- Signpost callers to external agencies, National Gambling Support Network, and internal services
- Develop understanding of complex issues linked to gambling harm, cultural behaviours, and addiction
- Use active listening to explore underlying issues affecting callers
- Participate in mandatory training, team meetings, and supervision sessions
- Promote and moderate peer support forums and chatrooms
- Document interactions accurately, ensuring GDPR compliance
- Contribute to the continuous development of the Helpline and related support services
Candidate Requirements
- Professional qualification in Health, Social Care, Psychology, or related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3, Diploma in Mental Health Nursing)
- Demonstrable experience working with vulnerable individuals experiencing addiction or complex needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong IT skills, including CRM systems and digital platforms
- Ability to respond positively to feedback and thrive within a team environment
- Non-judgmental attitude with a genuine interest in gambling addiction and recovery
- Flexibility to work across shifts, including evenings and weekends (rotas within your team)
- Lived experience of gambling harm is welcomed and supported
