Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Temporary HGV Fleet Mechanic on behalf of a local authority based in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician to join a busy Fleet Services team maintaining a wide range of commercial and specialist vehicles.
The RoleFleet Services is responsible for the inspection, servicing, and repair of the Council’s corporate vehicle fleet, ensuring compliance with operator license standards and statutory regulations.

The RoleFleet Services is responsible for the inspection, servicing, and repair of the Council’s corporate vehicle fleet, ensuring compliance with operator license standards and statutory regulations.
As a Vehicle Maintenance Technician, you will:
- Inspect, service, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet including commercial, HGV, and specialist municipal vehicles
- Diagnose faults accurately across vehicles and specialist equipment
- Carry out repairs in line with Council policies and scheduled repair times (ICME, Autodata)
- Identify and report defects, including preventative maintenance needs
- Complete all relevant job documentation and input data into systems
- Use specialist tools safely and effectively
- Work both in the workshop and on-site when required
- Comply with all health & safety procedures and operational requirements, including use of GPS mobile workshop vehicles
Key RequirementsExperience:
- Minimum 3 years in a recognised apprenticeship or externally validated training scheme
- At least 2 years’ experience in a commercial vehicle repair/service environment
- Proven experience servicing and repairing commercial vehicles
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability
- High level of manual dexterity
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly (written and verbal)
- Good numeracy skills for measurements and tool setting
- City & Guilds 4101 Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)
