HGV Technician – Local Authority (Temp-to-Perm), Rotherham | Contract (2 weeks initial)

Job Title: HGV Technician
Looking for an experienced HGV Technician to support a Local Authority workshop in Rotherham on an initial 2-week contract, with a strong path to temp-to-perm employment. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys daytime, sociable shifts and takes pride in fast, accurate fault diagnosis, inspections, and repairs.

HGV Technician Responsibilities

• Provide a high standard of fault diagnosis across HGV systems
• Carry out periodic safety inspections to DVSA inspection manual standards
• Complete PDI inspections
• Conduct decommissioning inspections and repairs as required
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure readiness for annual inspections
• Present vehicles for MOT inspections in line with compliance requirements
• Carry out repairs designed to minimise vehicle downtime

HGV Technician – Requirements

• City & Guilds / IMI Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
• Full UK driving licence Category C (or willingness to obtain within the first year)
• Previous experience in diagnostics, inspections, and repairs
• Working knowledge of DVSA inspection standards

Schedule

• 37 hours per week
• Monday to Thursday: 10:00–18:00
• Friday: 10:30–18:00
• Overtime available (where required)
• Holiday allowance included
