Highways Inspector Job Vacancy – Contract Opportunity (2 Weeks)
Are you a diligent and detail-oriented professional with experience in highway inspection? We are currently seeking a highly qualified Highways Inspector for a short-term contract spanning 2 weeks. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a dedicated team, ensuring the safety, serviceability, and sustainability of local highway networks.
About the Role – Highways Inspector
As a Highways Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting, assessing, and prioritising maintenance works to ensure the safety of highway users and that statutory duties are met under the Highways Act 1980. The ideal candidate will be present full-time within the designated area, either on-site or at the office, working collaboratively with local authorities, contractors, and emergency services to uphold high standards of highway safety.
Candidate Responsibilities – Highways Inspector
- Conduct systematic highway inspections and assessments
- Investigate and order reactive maintenance works
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and maintenance activities
- Assist with processing third-party insurance claims, providing inspection reports, and attending court if required
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and standards
- Support the statutory defence under Section 58 of the Highways Act 1980
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including clients, elected officials, and the public
- Respond to stakeholder enquiries within prescribed timescales
- Advise on solutions to complex highway issues ensuring safety and compliance
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Highways Inspector or similar role
- Full-time availability during the contract period
- Knowledge of the Highways Act 1980 and relevant legislation
- Strong record-keeping and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work within strict legal protocols and timescales
