Housing Litigation Lawyer

Service Care Legal are currently recruiting for a local authority is seeking an experienced Senior Housing Solicitor with strong disrepair expertise to join their Litigation team.

ROLE:                  Senior Solicitor – Housing Litigation
RATE:                   £40.00ph umbrella / £35.42ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £31.60ph PAYE exc. holiday pay                             
LOCATION:         Bedfordshire / Fully remote (attendance required on first day for IT collection)
CONTRACT:        Initial 3 months with possibility of extension

Key Responsibilities:
 

• Lead on a varied housing litigation caseload including disrepair, possession, rent arrears, anti-social behaviour injunctions, and prosecutions
• Oversee and allocate cases across the team, with line management responsibility for junior staff
• Conduct advocacy in the County Court and Magistrates’ Court
• Provide high-quality legal advice to officers, members, and client departments
• Support strategic housing management and enforcement work

Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX (England & Wales) with 6 years’ PQE
• Strong experience in housing litigation, particularly disrepair claims
• Proven advocacy experience and ability to manage complex caseloads independently
• Previous local authority/public sector experience desirable
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff advantageous
