Housing Officer - Contract Position

Are you an experienced Housing Officer looking for a rewarding contract opportunity? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Housing Officer to join our team, providing essential housing management services across Portsmouth and surrounding areas. About the Role: Housing Officer

As a Housing Officer, you will play a vital role in managing a diverse range of housing responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be capable of delivering high-quality customer service, both in person and via telephone or email, while managing tenancy related issues within the local community. This position is primarily based at our Paulsgrove Area Housing Office, with flexibility to attend other area offices across Portsmouth as needed.

Key Responsibilities of the Housing Officer include:

  • Handling general housing management tasks such as rent collections, tenancy updates, and void management
  • Conducting compliance visits and estate inspections to ensure housing standards are maintained
  • Managing anti-social behaviour (ASB) issues in collaboration with relevant authorities
  • Maintaining positive relationships with residents through home visits, outreach, and telephone contact
  • Supporting tenants with tenancy issues and escalating concerns when necessary
  • Working within a team of Housing Officers and Local Housing Managers to deliver consistent service delivery
  • Managing estates efficiently and ensuring all housing stock is well-maintained and compliant

Candidate Skills & Experience Needed

  • Previous experience in housing management or related roles
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of housing legislation, ASB procedures, and estate management
  • Flexibility to attend multiple office locations across Portsmouth
  • Valid driving license is desirable (if applicable)
