We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Options Officer / Advisor to join a busy Homeless Services team in Solihull on a 12-week temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with homelessness prevention, housing options or frontline housing advice experience to make a real impact supporting vulnerable individuals and families.
The Role
You will provide a high-quality, customer-focused housing options service, supporting customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Working within the Homeless Reduction Act framework, you will assess housing needs, deliver tailored advice, and help secure suitable accommodation solutions.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage homelessness enquiries face-to-face, by phone, email and digital channels
• Carry out housing needs and homelessness assessments
• Develop personalised housing plans and prevention strategies
• Provide advice on homelessness legislation, housing rights and support services
• Prevent homelessness through mediation with landlords, family members and agencies
• Support households into temporary and long-term accommodation
• Manage a varied caseload and maintain accurate case notes
• Work with internal departments and external partners including social care, health and support agencies
• Ensure compliance with Housing Act 1996, Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and relevant legislation

Requirements

• Previous experience in Housing Options, Homelessness Prevention or frontline housing services
• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and statutory duties
• Experience managing caseloads and working to deadlines
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to support vulnerable customers with empathy and professionalism
• Strong administration and case recording skills
• Full driving licence / access to vehicle desirable
