Housing Solicitor – Contract (East London) – 2 Weeks
Are you an experienced Housing Solicitor seeking a short-term contract to showcase your expertise? Service Care Legal is partnering with a well-established East London housing provider, and we are currently recruiting a dedicated Housing Solicitor for a 2-week contract to support their legal team. This is a fantastic opportunity for housing law specialists to contribute to a reputable organisation managing a substantial portfolio of affordable and private rented homes across London.
About the Housing Solicitor Role
The Housing Solicitor will manage a broad range of landlord and tenant legal matters, including possession proceedings, anti-social behaviour, tenancy fraud, unlawful occupation, disrepair claims, succession disputes, and leasehold issues. Your role will be pivotal in providing practical legal advice, drafting and reviewing tenancy agreements and associated legal documentation, and representing the organisation in court and tribunal proceedings, including at the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber). You will also supervise a Paralegal and offer legal compliance support to various departments across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities of the Housing Solicitor
- Handle a varied caseload involving housing law disputes and proceedings
- Provide clear, practical legal advice to internal stakeholders
- Draft, review, and negotiate tenancy agreements and legal documents
- Represent the organisation at court hearings, tribunals, and hearings
- Supervise and support a Paralegal with housing law matters
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal standards and regulations
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate
- Minimum of 5 years' PQE in housing law
- Extensive experience acting for landlords in contentious housing matters
- Strong advocacy, drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Commercially focused legal approach

Salary / Pay Rate
- £55-60 per hour umbrella
- £53.28 per hour PAYE including holiday pay
- £47.54 per hour PAYE excluding holiday pay
