Housing Solicitor (Contract – East London)

Are you an experienced Housing Solicitor with a passion for social housing law? Service Care Legal is working with a well-established East London housing provider seeking a dedicated Housing Solicitor to join their legal team on an initial 2-week contract, with a strong potential for extension or a permanent opportunity. This role offers an exciting chance to work within a respected organisation managing a significant portfolio of affordable and private rented homes across London.

Housing Solicitor – Key Responsibilities

As a Housing Solicitor, you will:

• Manage a diverse caseload including landlord and tenant matters such as possession proceedings, anti-social behaviour, tenancy fraud, unlawful occupation, disrepair claims, succession disputes, and leasehold issues.
• Provide practical legal advice to stakeholders across the organisation.
• Draft and review tenancy agreements, legal documentation, and correspondence.
• Represent the organisation in court proceedings, tribunals, and hearings, including matters before the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber).
• Supervise a Paralegal and support the wider team with housing law queries and legal compliance.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a Housing Solicitor with:

• Strong experience in Landlord & Tenant law
• Knowledge and expertise in housing law, including Court proceedings and legal documentation
• Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Salary and Contract Details

• Rate: £55-60 per hour umbrella / £53.28 per hour PAYE inc. holiday / £47.54 per hour PAYE exc. holiday
• Contract Length: 2 weeks (initial, with the possibility of extension or permanency)
• Location: East London / Hybrid working arrangements
