Make a Difference Every Day Are you passionate about supporting older and vulnerable people to live independently and maintain their quality of life? We are seeking a compassionate, organised, and proactive Independent Living Co-ordinator to join a dedicated team delivering vital housing and wellbeing services across a number of Independent Living Schemes.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with residents, promote independence, and help create safe, vibrant communities where people can continue living comfortably in their own homes.

The Role As an Independent Living Co-ordinator, you will work closely with residents to support their wellbeing, safety, and independence. You will provide both housing management and wellbeing support, ensuring residents receive the assistance they need while maintaining their independence for as long as possible.

You will regularly visit residents in their homes, monitor their wellbeing, coordinate support services where required, and work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, family members, support agencies, and community organisations.

Alongside resident support, you will help manage the day-to-day operation of the schemes, ensuring communal areas remain safe, welcoming, and compliant with health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular wellbeing visits with residents and respond appropriately to changing needs.
  • Promote independence, health, wellbeing, and social inclusion.
  • Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns involving vulnerable adults.
  • Liaise with GPs, social workers, healthcare professionals, support agencies, and family members.
  • Organise and support activities, events, and community engagement programmes.
  • Provide an effective housing management service within Independent Living Schemes.
  • Carry out health and safety inspections, fire safety checks, and scheme audits.
  • Manage and monitor repairs, maintenance issues, and communal facilities.
  • Install, test, and monitor lifeline and assistive technology equipment.
  • Complete referrals for aids, adaptations, and support services.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide cover across schemes when required.
About You We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys supporting people and can build positive relationships with residents and partner agencies alike.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with older people, vulnerable adults, or within housing, care, support, or community services.
  • A strong understanding of issues affecting independent living, including dementia, isolation, falls prevention, and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • A calm, approachable, and practical attitude.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality customer-focused services.
  • A full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of housing management processes.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
  • Awareness of data protection, confidentiality, and safeguarding procedures.
Why Apply? This is an opportunity to join a service that genuinely changes lives. You'll play a key role in helping residents remain independent, safe, connected, and supported within their communities while working as part of a friendly and committed team.

If you are looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same and where your work has a real impact on people's lives, we would love to hear from you.
