Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the delivery of both Hard and Soft Facilities Management services across a varied operational property portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced facilities professional to take responsibility for ensuring council buildings are safe, compliant, efficient and well-maintained while managing a dedicated facilities team and supporting strategic property objectives.
The Role
As Facilities Manager, you will lead the day-to-day management of the Council's operational estate, overseeing facilities services, compliance, maintenance programmes, contractor performance and occupier services. You will also play a key role in budget management, sustainability initiatives and the ongoing improvement of facilities operations.

The Role

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Facilities Management team, providing coaching, support and performance management.
- Oversee both Hard FM and Soft FM services across operational buildings.
- Manage planned and reactive maintenance programmes.
- Ensure statutory compliance across all buildings and building systems.
- Monitor health & safety, environmental and operational risks.
- Manage facilities budgets and ensure cost-effective service delivery.
- Oversee contractor procurement, performance and contract management.
- Support asset lifecycle planning and property improvement projects.
- Monitor utilities, space utilisation and operational efficiencies.
- Produce management reports, performance data and compliance information.
- Promote sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives across the estate.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Significant experience within Facilities Management.
- Experience managing both Hard and Soft FM services.
- Previous experience managing teams and contractors.
- Strong knowledge of building compliance, health & safety and statutory regulations.
- Experience managing budgets and financial planning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a busy operational environment.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach.
- Level 4 Facilities Management qualification (IWFM or equivalent).
- Management qualification (ILM Level 4 or equivalent).
- Experience within Local Government.
- Knowledge of energy management and sustainability initiatives.
- Full UK Driving License.
