Leaving Care Personal Advisor

We are excited to partner with Bury Metropolitan Borough Council to recruit a dedicated Leaving Care Personal Advisor for a short-term contract. Position: Leaving Care Personal Advisor
Location: Bury
Working Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week
Rate of Pay: £17.84 PAYE, £22.62 Umbrella

Candidate Responsibilities for the Leaving Care Personal Advisor role include:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with looked after children and care leavers
  • Supporting the implementation of Care Plans and Pathway Plans
  • Acting as the statutory Personal Advisor for care leavers
  • Visiting young people regularly within placements and in the community
  • Providing practical and emotional support to young people, parents, and carers
  • Preparing young people for adulthood through life skills development and independence planning
  • Promoting education, employment, and training opportunities
  • Assisting young people to access and sustain suitable accommodation and tenancies
  • Working collaboratively with Social Workers and multi-agency teams to achieve the best outcomes
  • Advocating on behalf of young people to ensure their voices are heard
  • Completing assessments, pathway plans, reports, and maintaining case records
  • Facilitating group work, participation events, and activities
  • Administering financial support where appropriate
  • Supporting Children in Care Councils and Care Leavers Forums

About You:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent qualification
  • Significant experience working with children, young people, or families
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child development
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by looked after children and care leavers
  • Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Strong organisational and report-writing skills
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and anti-oppressive practices
