Litigation Lawyer

Service Care Legal are working with a London-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Locum Litigation Lawyer to join its busy legal team on an initial 3-month rolling contract. This is an excellent opportunity to handle a varied and high-profile litigation caseload within a supportive in-house environment.

ROLE:                  Civil Litigation Lawyer
LOCATION:         London
RATE:                   £50-55ph umbrella / £48.89ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.62ph PAYE exc. holiday pay
CONTRACT:        6 months, 37 hours per week

Please note that this role requires office attendance 2 days per week.

The Role

• Manage a broad caseload of civil litigation matters including landlord & tenant disputes, debt recovery, contract disputes, injunctions and enforcement matters.
• Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to council departments on a range of contentious issues.
• Conduct litigation proceedings from inception to conclusion, with advocacy opportunities available where appropriate.

Person Specification
 

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with significant litigation experience.
• Strong working knowledge of civil litigation procedures, courts and tribunals, ideally gained within local government or the public sector.
• Able to manage a busy caseload independently, build effective stakeholder relationships and deliver practical, commercially-focused legal advice.
