Litter Picker (Streetscene Operative) – Reading (Temporary Contract, 2 Weeks+)

Service Care Solutions is recruiting for Litter Picker to join our client’s busy Streetscene team in Reading. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining clean public spaces, and wants an immediate start. The contract is temporary for 2 weeks, with the role running until end of January 2027 (as required by the service).

Candidate Responsibilities

As a Litter Picker, you will play a key part in delivering a high-quality streetscene cleansing service across parks and open spaces.

• Carry out litter picking and general cleansing duties across parks and open spaces
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in line with set schedules
• Conduct visual inspections of children’s playground equipment and safety surfaces
• Report any defects or hazards to the relevant teams promptly
• Support other operational teams during peak periods
• Ensure public safety and enforce byelaws with professionalism and tact
• Drive work vehicles (vans/tippers) to transport equipment, materials, and waste
• Complete basic maintenance checks on equipment

Pay

• £13.45 per hour PAYE
• £17.33 per hour Umbrella (inc. holiday pay)

To be considered for Litter Picker, you must have:

• Full UK manual driving licence (Category B or C1)
• Confidence driving vehicles up to 3.5 ton (vans/tippers)
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physically fit, reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team

Training and checks will be provided where required, and there is no interview required—immediate starts are available (first come, first served).
