The successful candidate will lead a team of drivers, ensuring the efficient delivery and collection of equipment while maintaining high service standards and meeting agreed performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and manage a team of drivers, including recruitment, training, mentoring and performance management.
- Plan and allocate daily workloads to ensure operational demands and service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the logistics operation, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed efficiently and safely.
- Monitor team performance, identify opportunities for improvement and support ongoing staff development.
- Work closely with internal departments to maximise operational efficiency.
- Respond to customer enquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
- Monitor KPIs and implement continuous improvements to enhance service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
- Act as a keyholder responsible for site security where required.
- Provide support across other operational teams when necessary.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience leading or supervising a logistics, transport or operational team.
- Experience of staff performance management, delegation and coaching.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Experience working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving ability.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience monitoring operational performance and KPIs.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to changing business needs.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- A recognised management qualification or equivalent supervisory experience (desirable).
- A full UK driving license.
