Markets & Estates Operative – Temporary
Location: Bristol
Pay: £13.76 per hour PAYE | £17.36 per hour Umbrella
Hours: 20–37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Saturday, 6am–2pm or 10am–6pm, with some half shifts required

The Role
Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Markets & Estates Operative to support the safe, clean and efficient day-to-day operation of busy market and public spaces in Bristol.
This is a hands-on temporary position suited to someone with experience in cleaning, estates, maintenance, portering, security or a similar operational environment.
You will work as part of a team providing a range of essential services to market traders, customers, event organisers and other stakeholders.Key Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning, waste disposal and recycling duties across market and estate areas.
• Operate mechanical cleaning equipment when required.
• Open, close, lock and secure buildings and open-space sites.
• Operate building security and fire alarm systems.
• Provide an on-site presence to help address anti-social behaviour and security issues.
• Provide information, assistance and general support to customers, market traders and stakeholders.
• Set up, move and dismantle market and event equipment.
• Provide general porterage services for market traders and event organisers.
• Operate mechanical handling equipment where required.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance to buildings, infrastructure and equipment.
• Follow emergency and evacuation procedures in the event of fire, bomb alerts or other potential hazards.
• Liaise with emergency services when required.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety and presentation.
• Work in accordance with relevant health and safety, security, market trading and event legislation.

Requirements

• Previous experience in cleaning, estates, grounds maintenance, facilities, maintenance, portering, security or a similar operational role is desirable.
• Good understanding of health and safety within a working environment.
• Physically capable of carrying out cleaning, maintenance and equipment-moving duties.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work.
• Willingness to wear uniform and appropriate PPE at all times.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training.
• Flexibility to work Saturdays and occasional Sundays/evenings when required.

Working Hours
The role will generally operate Monday to Saturday, with shifts between:
6:00am – 2:00pm
10:00am – 6:00pm
Some half shifts may be required depending on operational requirements.

There may also be occasional requirements for Sunday and evening working, particularly during busier periods, with the market operating seven days a week in the run-up to Christmas.
