Candidate Responsibilities as a Medical Secretary:
As a Medical Secretary, you will play a vital role in supporting healthcare professionals and ensuring the smooth running of the practice. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Audio and copy typing of letters, reports, referrals, minutes, and memorandums
- Processing patient referrals accurately and promptly
- Managing medical and insurance reports
- Handling patient access requests and communication
- Monitoring and distributing safety alerts and vaccine counts
- Maintaining and updating patient records using Clarity and other medical systems
- Supporting correspondence via AccuRx with patients
- Managing incoming and outgoing calls professionally
- Handling post, liaising with suppliers, and maintaining office supplies
- Filing, scanning, and record keeping to ensure compliance with data protection policies
- Supporting practice meetings, contributing to service improvements, and covering reception duties when required
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous secretarial or administrative experience within healthcare (preferred)
- Excellent typing, word processing, and IT skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confident use of clinical systems and medical terminology (desirable)
- Knowledge of NHS, GDPR, CQC policies (desirable)
