About the Role:

The Senior Social Worker in Children’s Social Care will be responsible for managing a caseload of children looked after by the local authority. You will be instrumental in safeguarding children, devising care plans, and working towards permanence through reunification, long-term care, or adoption. Your role will involve building meaningful relationships with children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and reflected in all planning and decision-making processes.

You will attend statutory reviews, court proceedings, and work closely with multi-agency teams to deliver high-quality, child-centred practice. Maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to statutory requirements is essential. This role offers a chance to influence positive outcomes for children while developing your skills within a supportive team environment.

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times
  • Complete thorough assessments and develop tailored care plans
  • Review and update care plans in collaboration with children, families, and partner agencies
  • Attend statutory reviews and court proceedings, providing expert written and oral reports
  • Build trusting relationships with children and young people, ensuring their voice informs all decisions
  • Safeguard children through risk assessments and effective management of safeguarding concerns
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams to promote seamless service delivery
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records complying with statutory and organisational standards
  • Promote positive outcomes, ensuring children’s needs are always prioritised

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker status with UK registration (HCPC or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in children’s social care, particularly in working with children in care
  • Strong understanding of statutory frameworks and safeguarding procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to child-centred practice and continuous professional development

Benefits of the Role:

  • Competitive pay rate (to be discussed based on experience)
  • Contract position with flexible working options
  • Opportunity to make a tangible difference in children’s lives
  • Supportive work environment with ongoing professional development
  • Opportunities for career progression within the organisation
