Senior Social Worker - Children’s Social Care (MOU) – Fostering & Kinship Care

Are you an experienced Senior Social Worker passionate about making a difference in children's lives? We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Social Worker to join our Fostering and Kinship Care team. This is a contract position offering an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic environment focused on children’s welfare and family permanency.

About the Role:
As a Senior Social Worker in our Children’s Social Care department, you will play a vital role in undertaking comprehensive fostering assessments, including kinship and mainstream applicants. Your responsibilities will also include preparing court reports, attending court hearings, and contributing to fostering panel discussions. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent assessment skills and the ability to work within legislative timescales.

Candidate Responsibilities:
As a Senior Social Worker – Children’s Social Care, your duties will include:

  • Conducting thorough fostering assessments for mainstream and kinship foster carers.
  • Preparing detailed reports for court proceedings and attending court hearings.
  • Contributing to the Fostering Panel by presenting assessments and recommendations.
  • Leading recruitment and marketing campaigns to attract new foster carers.
  • Facilitating training sessions for prospective foster carers and kinship carers.
  • Supervising and providing ongoing support to approved foster carers.
  • Engaging in continuous development activities, including marketing and recruitment efforts to enhance the sufficiency of foster carers.
  • Traveling to assess families outside of your local area as required.
  • Ensuring all work complies with statutory and legislative timescales.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in fostering assessments, particularly kinship and special guardianship.
  • Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, legislation, and assessment processes.
  • Ability to travel and complete assessments out of area.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Flexible, proactive, and capable of working within tight deadlines.
