Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out a wide range of joinery repairs, replacements, maintenance and upgrade works.
  • Undertake responsive repairs and works within void properties.
  • Inspect areas of disrepair and determine the most appropriate repair or replacement solution.
  • Complete associated remedial and multi-skilled works where required.
  • Work across other building trade disciplines during periods of increased demand.
  • Carry out floor and wall tiling and other associated property maintenance tasks.
  • Complete works promptly and within agreed timescales.

  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all Health & Safety legislation and procedures.
  • Use appropriate PPE and safely operate tools, equipment and vehicles.
  • Complete PDA records, vehicle sheets, materials requests and other job-related documentation accurately.
  • Order, collect and receive materials as required.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Clear work areas and remove waste following completion of repairs.
  • Provide a professional and customer-friendly service when working in tenants’ homes.
  • Introduce yourself to residents, explain the nature of the repair and follow appropriate procedures when entering properties.
  • Identify and report any safeguarding concerns encountered while working in residents’ homes.
  • Assist colleagues where repairs require more than one operative.
  • Advise work planners of any issues preventing completion of a repair on the first visit.
  • Provide support and guidance to apprentices and trainees when required.
  • Contribute to out-of-hours and emergency repair services.
  • Participate in training, toolbox talks and service improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant Building Regulations, Codes of Practice and Health & Safety requirements.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds in Carpentry/Joinery or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Time-served apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery, or substantial relevant experience.

  • Experience working within void properties would be advantageous.
  • Experience of floor and wall tiling and other associated building trades.
  • Good understanding of current construction and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ability to diagnose defects and determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Strong practical and technical joinery skills.
  • Ability to work at height using ladders and scaffold towers.
  • Ability to use a PDA and complete job-related records.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and solve problems.
