Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in our client for a Pension Fund Payroll Officer to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will support and implement transition of the Pensioner Payroll out of the existing system onto a payroll integrated within the pension administration system, working with internal colleagues and external software providers and supporting development of new working practices and control processes in collaboration with the pension administration team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the successful migration of the pensioner payroll to a new payroll system integrated with the pension administration platform, working collaboratively with internal teams and external providers.
- Process monthly pension payroll activities, ensuring approximately 16,000 pension payments and ad hoc immediate payments are made accurately and on time.
- Complete statutory payroll obligations, including HMRC submissions, tax payments, reconciliations, regulatory returns, and payroll control checks.
- Maintain the integrity of pension payroll records through pensioner updates, mortality tracing, pension increase exercises, overpayment recovery processes, and member query resolution.
- Previous experience working within a payroll environment for a large organisation, ideally managing complex or high-volume payrolls.
- Understanding of pension payroll processes, with knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) considered highly advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
