Service care solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded Local Authority in Cheshire for an experienced Planning & Highways Solicitor to join their Legal Services team on a locum basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with strong experience in planning and highways law to support a busy local government legal department. The role offers flexible hybrid working, with the majority of duties able to be undertaken remotely.
Location: Cheshire / Predominantly Remote Working
Umbrella Rate: £50 - £55 per hour Umbrella
PAYE Rate: £44.06 - £48.41 per hour PAYE, inclusive of holiday pay
Duration: 3-5 months rolling

Key Responsibilities as a Planning and Highway Solicitor:
- Advising officers, members, and committees on planning and highways law matters.
- Managing a caseload of complex planning and highways matters from instruction through to completion.
- Drafting and negotiating legal agreements, including Section 106 Agreements, Highway Agreements, and related documentation.
- Providing legal support for planning appeals, enforcement matters, and judicial review proceedings.
About you as a Planning and Highway Solicitor:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate.
- Previous experience handling planning and highways law matters, ideally within a Local Authority setting.
- Strong knowledge of local government law and procedures.
