Plumber – Local Authority Housing Repairs (South Shields & South Tyneside) | Contract (Temp-to-Perm)

We’re recruiting for a Plumber to join a Local Authority Housing Repairs team covering South Shields and South Tyneside. This Plumber role is offered as a 2-week contract initially, with a strong temp-to-perm pathway. You’ll work Monday to Friday with sociable hours, carrying out high-quality plumbing repairs and maintenance to both void and tenanted properties.

Candidate responsibilities

• Carry out plumbing repairs and maintenance to void and occupied properties as required
• Undertake responsive repairs and planned maintenance works across a range of housing stock
• Complete work to a high standard, ensuring compliance and quality finishes
• Work on kitchens, bathrooms, and wet rooms, including fitting/repair tasks
• Provide excellent service to tenants and residents and maintain professionalism on site
• Cover properties throughout South Shields and South Tyneside and manage your workload effectively
• Work independently as a Plumber, ensuring accurate task completion and effective timekeeping

Pay & working hours

• £18.18 per hour (Ltd) – PAYE equivalent £15.16 per hour
• 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00
• Holiday allowance included
• Overtime available where applicable

Requirements

• NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience working on void and tenanted properties
• Proven experience carrying out responsive repairs and planned maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
