Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for former Police Officers to work as Police Staff Investigators (Grade D) on a full-time, long-term contract based in Liverpool, Merseyside.
The role is paying £23.41p per hour (Umbrella).

Job Purpose
To support the investigation of serious and complex crime in line with the Investigation Allocation Model, contributing to PIP1, PIP2 and PIP3 investigations to improve public confidence, increase satisfaction, and reduce fear of crime.

Duties:
  • Support serious and complex investigations, managing allocated crimes/actions and progressing enquiries to required timescales and standards.
  • Build and maintain case files, including preparation of complex MG files, schedules and prosecution paperwork, ensuring legal/procedural compliance.
  • Undertake investigation support functions as required (e.g., officer-in-the-case support, telecommunicationsexhibitsdisclosure, and evidence handling).
  • Interview victims, witnesses and suspects; take statements; complete follow-up enquiries; and support arrest activity where required.
  • Manage witness engagement and provide ongoing support through the criminal justice process.
  • Record and investigate Hate Crime, providing specialist advice and working with partner agencies to reduce repeat offending/victimisation.
  • Support warrants and search activity, including preparation of paperwork and execution of searches.
  • Obtain, review and present CCTV/digital material for evidential and briefing purposes.
  • Identify and submit relevant criminal intelligence, and maintain strong information management standards (APP/MoPI).
  • Comply with health & safety requirements, including completing risk assessments where appropriate.

Expereience required
Essential
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven ability to write clear, accurate reports and correspondence to a high standard.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload, working to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Willingness and capability to complete relevant investigative training and develop working knowledge of key legislation/procedures (exhibits handling/storage and disclosure processes).
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility, resilience and reliability to manage sensitive/high-profile investigations and demanding workloads with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to present information clearly, logically and concisely.
  • Ability to handle personal, sensitive and confidential information with absolute discretion.
  • Knowledge of interview practice and disclosure considerations, with the ability to interview suspects and witnesses in line with current legislation, codes of practice, policy and guidance.
Desirable
  • File management experience.
  • Evidenced investigative experience with understanding of complex/sensitive investigations.
  • Experience liaising with CPS, legal representatives and partner agencies.
  • Experience in disclosure, exhibits, telecommunications and outside enquiries on live investigations.
  • PEACE interview training.
  • Knowledge of Major Incident Room procedures.
