About the Role: Port Heath Administrator

The Port Heath Administrator will be primarily office-based, performing crucial administrative duties related to imported goods entering the UK. You’ll be supported with full training on all systems and procedures, ensuring you’re confident in executing your responsibilities. Your workload will include assisting Environmental Health Officers and Official Veterinarians during inspections within the inspection sheds.

Your main responsibilities as a Port Heath Administrator will include:

  • Performing documentary checks using IPAFFS and other internal systems
  • Utilizing AI-assisted tools to process and verify import documentation
  • Conducting CHED and IUU document checks
  • Responding to queries from import agents and hauliers via phone and email
  • Escalating issues and complaints appropriately
  • Assisting Officers and Veterinarians during inspections
  • Conducting identity and seal checks on consignments
  • Recording inspection data with tablets and internal systems (PHILIS)
  • Supporting sampling activities and detention procedures
  • Coordinating vehicle movements across the Border Control Post
  • Liaising with multiple agencies to ensure smooth processing of consignments
  • Maintaining accurate records and staying informed about legislative changes and disease outbreaks

Candidate Responsibilities

To excel as a Port Heath Administrator, you should possess:

  • Previous administrative experience in a busy environment
  • Excellent IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities efficiently under pressure
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends
  • A commitment to cleanliness and personal hygiene

While experience in food safety, import/export, logistics, regulatory services, or environmental health is advantageous, it is not essential. A valid driving license is also beneficial but not mandatory.
