We are seeking a qualified Probation Officer to join the South West Probation Service region on a 6-month contract assignment. This role is focused on Sentence Management and offers excellent flexibility, as the work can be completed entirely remotely. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in pre-release procedures and multi-agency collaboration.

Full Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Probation Officer to join the South West Probation Service region on a 6-month contract assignment. This role is focused on Sentence Management and offers excellent flexibility, as the work can be completed entirely remotely. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in pre-release procedures and multi-agency collaboration.
Depending on the role, work may include:
- Managing a Sentence Management caseload with a focus on pre-release work
- Preparing comprehensive parole reports and pre-release sentence plans
- Completing MAPPA referrals and coordinating closely with prison establishments
- Maintaining accurate, up-to-date case records within probation systems
- Collaborating with external agencies to ensure robust risk management and public safety
- The job holder is expected to accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level that may be necessary.
- Possession of a recognized Probation Qualification Framework Graduate Diploma/Honours Degree in Community Justice (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Proven experience within a Sentence Management environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in writing detailed parole reports and structuring pre-release sentence plans.
- Working knowledge of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) and prison liaison procedures.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote capacity.
