We are seeking an experienced Probation Officer to join the South Central region for a contract assignment at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court. The ideal candidate will bring strong report-writing skills and the flexibility to attend face-to-face appointments.
Depending on the role, work may include:
- Conducting Pre-Sentence Reports (PSRs) for court proceedings
- Attending face-to-face PSR appointments at Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, or High Wycombe offices at least once a week
- Writing comprehensive and accurate probation reports
- Liaising with court officials, clients, and relevant stakeholders
- Managing caseloads efficiently within tight deadlines
- Providing support and guidance to offenders to aid rehabilitation
- The job holder is expected to accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level that may be necessary.
- Possession of a recognized Probation Qualification Framework Graduate Diploma/Honours Degree in Community Justice (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Proven experience in Pre-Sentence Report (PSR) writing within a probation setting.
- Experience and knowledge of using probation service computer-based systems to produce and maintain accurate case records.
- Flexibility and ability to travel for in-person appointments across the specified court and office locations as required.
- Strong communication, time-management, and report-writing skills to deliver high-quality assessments under tight deadlines.
