LOCATION: Cheshunt
HOURS: 37 hours per week
DURATION: 6 months, rolling contract
PAY RATE: £22.89 per hour (umbrella, limited company)

Probation Service Officer Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of offenders assessed as low or medium risk of harm, supporting Probation Officers on higher risk cases
• Complete offender management tasks including assessments, reviews, and risk management plans
• Maintain accurate case records on OASys and other case management systems within agreed timescales
• Liaise with Probation Officers, interventions staff, service providers, and external agencies to coordinate offender progress and manage risk
• Carry out prison, home, and community visits in line with probation service policy and procedure
• Work in line with the aims and values of the National Probation Service (NPS)

Probation Service Officer Requirements

• Experience working within probation, criminal justice, youth offending, or a related field
• A relevant degree or professional qualification in probation, social work, criminology, or similar is desirable
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Sound understanding of risk assessment and the criminal justice system
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
