Project Support Officer Responsibilities

The Project Support Officer will work closely with the Project Manager, providing essential support across all stages of project delivery. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development, monitoring, and maintenance of project plans using tools such as Gantt charts
  • Preparing accurate project documentation, reports, and updates aligned with PRINCE2 methodologies
  • Managing project risks, issues, change control, and configuration management
  • Coordinating resources, tracking progress, and initiating corrective actions to keep projects on track
  • Liaising with senior officers, stakeholders, and partners to resolve issues and foster strong collaboration
  • Conducting research and providing timely information for decision-making
  • Delivering clear communication through updates, minutes, and project briefings
  • Ensuring project documentation remains compliant with organisational standards
  • Developing and implementing strategies to keep stakeholders informed of project progress
  • Collaborating across portfolios to ensure project alignment and avoid duplication

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in project support roles or project management
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Confidence using project management tools and methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Professionalism, integrity, and alignment with the policing Code of Ethics
